Product Introduction
The common problem of “Crocodile Cracking” and “Pothole Clusters” led to the independent research and development of a special asphalt pavement crack mat to provide a quick and easy solution to this common road failure problem. The product is made of high polymer modified asphalt as a water-proof layer and self-adhesive bonding layer. The surface is embedded with 5mm material made of basalt particles.
Product Features
The self-adhesive layer of polymer modified asphalt bonds extremely well with the existing asphalt pavement in the early stage of a road failure. After installation, the subsequent traffic flow's rolling and compacting, the basalt particles are effectively squeezed into the cracks below and integrated with the original pavement to repair the crack. After a short period of being open to traffic the road surface has the same or even better tensile and rolling properties as a new asphalt pavement. AJT is not sensitive to extreme variations in temperatures and provides a durable long-term sealing solution, often eliminating the need for more expensive road repair options to be undertaken.

- It is important that suffecient traffic passes over the mat to ensure all the stone embeds into the mat prior to adverse weather. As Such, depending on traffic flow, we recommend that installation is only performed when no rain is expected for between 48 hours after installation.

Method of Application
- Check weather end ensure no rain is expected within 48 hours of installation. (The higher the traffic flow the less amount of time required before safe to install before rain - stone needs traffic to embedd thouroughly into the mat)
- Repair large cracks and potholes: (crack width ≥5mm) Large cracks should be filled with a crack filing solution such as AJT Cold Crack filler, AJT Hot Block for Hot pots or AJT Polymer Filler. Fill all Potholes with Hot mix or AJT Cold Mix and compact.
- Ensure the entire area to be patched is clean dry and above 20 degrees road temperature. If it is below 20 degree use a gas torch to heat the road surface
- Cut the appropriate repair patch according to the area and shape of the Patch (the size of the crack mat patch should at least 100mm wider then then the failure around the cracks or potholes to be covered).
- Remove the backing film and place over the area to be repaired. Compact the area by foot or static roll with small roller (not compulsory). The area can be opened to traffic immediately. A video of installation can be viewed on www.asphaltjointtape.com
